Ventrilo - Device - Logitech - G19

The Ventrilo client program has built in support for the Logitech G19 Keyboard's Gamepanel LCD display. On this display will be information about the Ventrilo client that most users will find useful and pertinent at the current time. The associated "Soft buttons" will allow you to change the display information based on your current requirements. For example, you might want to see a list of users who are currently in the same channel as you, or you might decide to monitor the Global Chat activity. Here we will document what all of the soft buttons do depending on the current display state.

Gear:

This is a global soft button used by the Logitech G19 drivers. It instructs the Control Panel (also called a CP) to switch to a display from a different application such as the default G19 Performance Monitor or the default G19 clock. Pressing this button will round robin through all of the G19 applications that are currently running. Press this key until you see the Ventrilo display show up on the Gamepanel. Until you have done this none of the following documentation is applicable.

Menu:

This button will always bring up the Ventrilo clients menu.

All menus use the following soft buttons for navigation.

Up / Down arrows:

Pressing once will move the selection bar up or down one item. Press and hold for auto repeat.

Left / Right arrows:

Pressing either of these buttons is akin to using the Page Up and Page Down keys on a keyboard. Press and hold for auto repeat.

OK:

Activates the selected menu item.

The main menu options available at this time are:

Display page

This option will list all of the possible display pages. Note: This list can change in size when Private Chat windows are open.

Status

This is the initial display page when the program starts. It displays your current channel name, connected or disconnected states, recording state, ping and transmitting state or Microphone mute state. It also displays the list of people you are currently receiving a voice stream from. If more than 3 are being received then the rows where this info is displayed will be split in to two columns in order to display a total of 6.

The bottom part will display a list of the most recent events that have taken place.

Channel clients

This is a continuously rotating list of users that are in the same channel as you.

Events

This is a continuously scrolling list of events that have taken place, such as people connecting or disconnecting, joining leaving your channel, Integration notifications, etc.

Commanding

This is a scrolling list of the most recent Commanding messages that you have received.

Global chat

This is a scrolling list of Global chat messages that you have received.

PrvChat: {from user name}

Similar to Global chat but a unique display for each currently open Private Chat window.

Switch channels

This option will display a list of channels that you can select from. When you press the OK button the client will make the selected item the new current channel in the main window and the status page.

Kick user

This option will display a list of all users currently connected to the server. When you press the OK button the client will kick the selected user if you have either Channel Admin rights or Server Admin rights.

Ban user

This option will display a list of all users currently connected to the server. When you press the OK button the client will ban the selected user if you have either Channel Admin rights or Server Admin rights.

Mute user

This option will display a list of all users currently connected to the server. When you press the OK button the selected user will either be Muted or Unmuted. This mute is local to your client only and is the same thing as right clicking on the users name in the main window, selecting User and then clicking the Mute option.

Mute microphone

This option will toggle the "Mute Microphone" check box on the main window.

Mute Sound

This option will toggle the "Mute Sound" check box on the main window.

Options

This option will open a list of state options that control how the G19 display will function. The following list of sub-options will be displayed.

Display background image

This will toggle the display of the background image on and off.

Note: You can override the background image with an external PNG file if you follow these requirements.

1) File name must be G19BG.PNG
2) PNG image dimensions must be 320x240
3) The file must be placed in the folder: %APPDATA%\Ventrilo\Icons
4) You must restart the program each time you change, add or delete the file for changes to take effect.

Display user picture

When enabled this feature will display images of users that you are receiving a data stream from if you have configured images for specific user names. For more information about configuring images for users please read the User Options window help page.

Display users in switch channels

When using the "Menu - Switch channels" feature this option will enable or disable the display of users in their associated channels. This can be very useful to have when you are looking to see where everyone is currently located. However, if your server has lots of channels and lots of users at the same time then the list could become a little overbearing to traverse. Thus with this option you can toggle the user list display on and off.

Note: If you select a user rather than a channel with the OK button you will still be switched to the channel that the user is currently in, just as if you had selected their channel name instead.

Set foreground at start and flip

When set to (Yes) this option will force the Gamepanel to automatically switch to the Ventrilo display when the program starts up and when a private chat or commanding message is received.

Note: If you have configured the Gamepanel for this device to automatically “Rotate between programs” then this feature will suspend the auto rotation until you close the Ventrilo client or set this option to (No), at which time the display should return to automatic rotation mode.

Auto flip to private chat

When set to (Yes) this option will force the currently displayed page to automatically switch to the Private Chat window when opened or when a new text message is received from an existing private chat window.

Auto flip to commanding message

When set to (Yes) this option will force the current displayed page to automatically switch to the Commanding page when a new commanding message is received.

Time in the title bar

When set to (Yes) this option will display a 12 hour clock in the title bar of all pages.

Cancel:

When a menu is currently being displayed it will cancel the menu and return to the last known display mode, as expected.

However, when not in menu mode it can be used to cycle through the list of displays when used in conjunction with the right / left soft button arrows. Press and hold the Cancel button and then press either the Right or Left soft button arrows to move forward or backwards through the list of displays.

Disclaimer: Be careful when using the Cancel button to switch pages. Placing too much pressure on the cancel button over a period of time could result in damage to the button.

Note: Holding either shift key and pressing either the right / left buttons will do the same thing. This might be an easier combination for those people who are unable to press both soft buttons at the same time given their proximity to each other.

The following items describe each of the possible display pages. You can switch to these pages by using the Menu button or you can press and hold the Cancel button and then press the Left or Right arrow buttons.
